Sue's Health

Many of you have been asking how my mom is doing. They got the results of her MRI and she does not have a tumor. The doctor was excited about that but she was not. There are no tests to take for a diagnosis of Minears Disease, you basically have to rule out everything else. So that is what they are doing. The Dr. is treating her as if she has Minears and they will go from there. She is taking a medication for the next two months and keeping track of any dizzy spells or changes in how she feels, they will then talk and change the medication if needed. She also has to cut WAY down on her salt and caffeine intake, which she is doing VERY, VERY well with. I think she is getting frustrated because the dizzy spells continue to occur. On the positive side, she can now hear! She got a hearing aid put in yesterday. Something she had never even thought about until all of this started, she didn't even know she was deaf in her left ear. I think she is enjoying the ability to be able to hear better....however, she has not heard Jayden screaming yet while wearing it....she may think differently after that :)

I know some of you have tried to post comments in the past and were unable too....I think I figured out how to fix it; everyone should be able to comment without passwords.

Happy Birthday and Happy Father's Day

The newness of the blog must be wearing off a little, I can't seem to find the time to post new pictures. Maybe we just need to slow down a little bit around here! Miya had a great birthday. She was very excited about her birthday this year, especially about the cake.

She talked about it for two days. She almost ruined it though. She saw it sitting in the plastic container on the counter and decided she wanted to hold it. So she grabbed it by the sides and pulled it off the counter and was walking around the kitchen with it before I could catch her. Thankfully the bottom didn't fall out from under it...it was a very strong container.

I think Jeff also had a good Father's Day. We started a new tradition this year for a Father's Day gift. I taped the girls (Miya) saying Happy Father's Day, and why they love their dad. It's only about a minute of talking, but I thought it would be something neat to watch in the coming years as the girls continue to grow up so quickly! Miya said she loves her dad because he plays toys with her and because he gives her snacks! They crazy part is I did not tell her those things, she thought of it and said all by herself! So I guess at age two, playing toys and giving snacks is how to show love!

Two Month Appointment

Here are some updated pictures of Jayden. She had her two month appointment this past Monday. She is in the 95th percentile for height and weight, 12#'s and 13oz. and inches long. She was not a fan of the shots, she really showed her quick temper. Miya never responded to shots the way Jayden did. Miya would cry for like 10 seconds and be done. Jayden on the other hand turned as red as a ripe tomato and screamed!!!!!!! She would not calm down until she had a bottle in her mouth. I really don't think she was crying from pain, but from anger. She has really been showing her temper lately, I think that's a Westra trait :) You will notice Jayden tends to be dressed in a onesie; it's been a little HOT here lately and she tends to BLAST through ALL of her layers of clothes EVERY time she poops. So to cut down on laundry, we dress her in a onesie unless we go away. (I'll try to get some better pictures).

Hey all,
This is Jeff. Dont know really what Im doing, but I heard comments that my wife has been doing a good job with this website. My turn. I got home from work today around noon cuz I wanted to start cleaning up the mess that we have from the storm we got all weekend. Saturday nite was the worst. The tree that came down that we have some pictures of came crashing down around 11 at nite or so. The worst part was, the wind was blowing so hard the windows and doors were rattling and we never heard it come down until we went outside to go to Nickis mom and dads house. We decided this house is far from tornado proof. I really dont get too worked up about tornados, but this storm freaked me out. Went to Nickis mom and dad and they were on the couch watching tv (Duane in his underwear as usual) and they had no idea it was as bad as it was outside. Guess thats the difference between a new house and a 100 year old house. We have some damage to the house. A hole in the roof, wink wink, not sure if they came from old age or the storm...insurance companys paycheck said it came from the storm. Shingles blew off our building outside, garage door is bent up a little, and the grill flipped over. Ive talked to the insurance company a few times today, and they said what we have is so minor, we just have to send a few quotes in and they will cut us a check, not even gonna come out and look at this one. Theyve been great, and with a little extra work, a little help from friends, we should be good to go soon. Anyway, the tree was enormous and I new the sucker bass was gonna come down eventually, so I guess now was a good time rather than when the wind was coming out of the other direction. I propped Miya on a branch to give you a little perspective of how big it was. She likes helping dad clean up the broken tree. Thats all weve been hearing about for 2 days now. Not quite ready to get paid for her work yet. If the branch is bigger than 1/4 in diameter she says its to big. Anyway, Nicki just walked in and said "oh my word, youre writing a book." I think that means Im done. Love you all....Jeff
